Ingredients

  • 1 large pork shoulder butt

  • 1 cup apple juice

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1 Tablespoon paprika

  • 1 Tablespoon mustard powder

  • 1 Teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 Teaspoon cumin

  • 1 tablespoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon pepper

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • 1 bottle of BBQ sauce

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine all spices

  • On a flat surface, rub all the spices onto all sides of the pork

  • Add the coated pork into the slow cooker and add the apple juice.

  • Cook on high for 6-8 hours or on low for 8-10 hours ( low recommended).

  • Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and shred.

  • Save the juice from the pork.

  • Once pork is shredded, add it back to the slow cooker to keep warm

  • With the saved juice, add it to a large saucepan and add the brown sugar. Let the juice reduce till it becomes thicker.

  • Add the reduced juice back to the pork and give it a good mix.

  • Optional- add BBQ sauce to pork, mix, and serve.

  • (This pork can be used for many different recipes. I don’t always add the BBQ sauce to the whole batch, so that way I can use it for other recipes).
